Ornery. Mischievous. Highly eccentric. These are all words that could easily describe this esk. He goes by Soot usually, but also answers to Root, or sometimes Kevin, and he is intensely silly. He is very friendly to esks and animals, as long as they do not damage his cave home's ecosystem. Humans on the other hand, he sees as clumsy and inconsiderate usually, and will try to use traps or tricks to scare them away from his caves. One exception are humans in danger. He's had several close encounters with lost and terrified humans, who take shelter in the cave just as an animal would. These humans he watches carefully, as they are often eager to leave the cave on their own.

.hidden deep in a forest somewhere, out of view from nosey and messy humans, Soot's home cave is his sanctuary. He feels that all caves are home however, and travels often, exploring and cleaning up caves and caverns all over the world.
